The brand new work of Canon Mons. Prof. Ettore Malnati is being published: it is the precious essay “Bishop Antonio Santin and the protection of human rights in Venezia Giulia”, a book edited by the Regional Institute for Istrian-Fiuman-Dalmatian Culture of Trieste, fresh off the press for Luglio Editore of Trieste and accompanied by several period photos.

The essay will soon be available in the best bookstores at a price of 13 euros; if you prefer to get it through IRCI, the price will be 10 euros. The work is structured as follows: preface by the President of IRCI, Franco Degrassi; presentation by Archbishop Crepaldi, Bishop of Trieste; introduction by Mons. Malnati; five chapters [“Santin's work for the Jews during the years of the racial laws”; “In the storm alongside his people, beyond nationalisms”, “Mediation for the surrender of the Germans”; “In defense of religious freedom by paying in person”; “Archive documents”]. The text is complete with a practical index of names.

The work is sealed by a moving image: it is the photo of the painting of the Virgin of Sorrows in the former chapel of the apartment of the Bishop's Palace, in front of which Santin made the vow for the salvation of Trieste.
