The synergy between FederEsuli and Unione Italiana is consolidated

The Program Agreement for the creation of a cultural network between the Italian Union and the Federation of Associations of Istrian, Rijeka and Dalmatian Exiles was signed in Zagreb on Thursday 29 July 2021, at the Italian Cultural Institute, in the presence of the Italian Ambassador to Croatia, HE Pierfrancesco Sacco.

On behalf of the Federation, the agreement was signed by its President, Prof. Avv. Giuseppe de Vergottini; on behalf of the Italian Union, the Agreement was signed by its President, Maurizio Tremul, and by the President of the Executive Board, Marin Corva.

The signing was attended by the President of the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia, Cav. Renzo Codarin, the President of the Association of Istrian Communities, off. Dr. David Di Paoli Paulovich, and the Vice President of the Association of Italians of Pula and Istria – Free Municipality of Pula in Exile, Maria Rita Cosliani.

The Agreement represents an important leap in quality in the relations between the Organizations representing the world of Exiles and the Italian National Community in Croatia and Slovenia with the aim of promoting cultural and institutional activities aimed at protecting and enhancing the cultural and historical identities of Istria, Rijeka and Dalmatia, stimulating in particular the development of joint projects.

Ambassador Pierfrancesco Sacco observed that "the agreement signed fits perfectly into the framework of the commitment made by the Italian and Croatian governments to give, in a way updated to today's challenges, an authentic strategic profile to bilateral relations".

The President of FederEsuli, Giuseppe de Vergottini, expressed satisfaction «for an agreement that further consolidates and provides organicity to an already solid collaboration between the Federation and the Union, to underline the fundamental unity of the community reality and its demands between the two shores of the Adriatic».

The President of the Italian Union, Maurizio Tremul, for his part affirmed that «on the recognition of the historical truths and tragedies of the past Century, the renewed path of pacification and friendship between Nations must continue, in the common European spirit, a path to which our Organizations intend to give their significant contribution».

Finally, the President of the Executive Board of the UI, Marin Corva, remarked that «today's signing of this important Agreement, which I define as historic, is not only a point of arrival in the already established and fruitful collaboration between our two Institutions, but is above all a new beginning of a common path across the board».
