The 24th edition of the “Favelà” literary prize took place
The awards ceremony for the 24th edition of the Favelà Literary Prize took place on the evening of Sunday, August 16th. This cultural project, promoted by the Italian Community of Dignano together with the Dignanese Family, aims to preserve, enhance, and pass on the dialect of the Dignano Istriot to future generations.
«We have once again celebrated the strength of our words, our roots and our identity» declared the organizers of the exhibition dedicated to unpublished works in the Vodnjan Istrian dialect, an event that year after year continues to preserve and enhance a precious part of the linguistic and cultural heritage of the Italian presence in Istria.
Behind every poem, every story, and every dialect word lies something beyond the written word: memory, belonging, affection, and a deep connection to Dignano and its people, shared by Dignano exiles, including the younger generations, and the native Italian community.
"Thanks to all the authors who participated, to those who contributed to the realization of this 24th edition, and to the audience who shared this beautiful evening with us. As long as we continue to write about it, speak about it, and pass it on, the favela will live on."
