The series of meetings between the Italian National Community in Croatia and Slovenia, jointly represented by the Italian Union, and the world of Istrian, Julian, Fiume and Dalmatian exiles in Italy continues, within the institutional framework represented by the Collaboration Agreement between the Italian Union itself and the Federation of Istrian, Fiume and Dalmatian Exiles. The president and vice-president of the Association of Istrian Communities, David Di Paoli Paulovich, and Giorgio Tessarolo respectively, met on Thursday (10 August 2023) in Koper, the president of the Italian Union, Maurizio Tremul, and the Euro-project manager of the “Europe” Office of the Italian Union, Marko Gregorič. This was announced yesterday by the UI.

Representatives of the Istrian Communities, to whom the President of the Italian Union donated the three volumes of the Linguistic Atlas of Istro-Veneto by Prof. Suzana Todorović, visited the Italian Multimedia Center “Gravisi” of the Italian Union. The Europroject manager Marko Gregorič illustrated the genesis and the main peculiarities of the Italian Multimedia Center “Gravisi” which could represent an important point of reference also for the exiles and will constitute a source of new opportunities for collaboration in the context of the European programs of cross-border and transnational cooperation. “These are opportunities of great importance, it was commonly underlined by all the interlocutors, which must be seized also thanks to the positive rich experience and the wide competence acquired by the “Europa” Office of the Italian Union since its establishment in 2005″, we read in the press release issued by the UI.

The Association of Istrian Communities intends to develop with the Italian Union an initiative linked to the study and dissemination of knowledge of the common cultural-historical religious heritage in Istria, Kvarner and Dalmatia to be carried out jointly with all the scientific and cultural realities of the exiles and the indigenous Italian National Community. This is a reality, it was agreed, still little known that, however, both for the religious values ​​and for the identity values ​​of the Italian presence in these lands, undoubtedly deserve to be promoted and valorized.
