17 Years of Remembrance Day
17 years have passed since Law 92 of 30 March 2004 was promulgated, establishing the Day of Remembrance, an anniversary that has managed to gain visibility and credibility thanks to the work of the associations of Istrian, Fiume and Dalmatian exiles, who immediately considered that Law not so much a goal achieved as a starting point. As highlighted by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance 2021, these associations must be recognized for having preserved for over half a century the memory of the tragedies that struck the Italianity of the eastern Adriatic in the final phase of the Second World War...
Documentary film on the Exodus and the Race of Remembrance
Due to the pandemic, the Corsa del Ricordo 2021 was held in virtual mode. Norma Cossetto and Nino Benvenuti's comics in English
The foibe, the anti-Italian violence, the drama of the exodus but also the redemption... For the first time translated into English, in an international edition, the comic book story of the eastern Italian border through the works of the publisher Ferrogallico: "Blood of Istria - Norma Cossetto, an Italian story" Norma Cossetto, a 23-year-old student, was tortured, raped and thrown into a foiba in September 1943 by Yugoslavian communist partisans. The indescribable violence against Italians in Istria, culminating in two terrible outbursts made of deportation, summary executions, torture, drownings and people being thrown into the foibe – the first one in the months following the 8th of...
Denying the Foibe and Exodus by ignoring facts, figures and documents
This year too, for the Day of Remembrance for the ethnic cleansing on the eastern border of Italy, the more or less recycled post-communist left will feed us the usual Yugo-negationist mush, in an attempt to justify the crimes of the Yugoslavian communists with the violence of the bad fascists, indeed very bad, of which we report an example. But let's read the whining of the Yugo-justificationists: "That of the "foibe" is a real political-cultural operation, which has contributed to creating or consolidating an anti-communist and anti-anti-fascist common sense, aimed at promoting a counterfeit memory", says Angelo d'Orsi together with his colleagues Andrea...
