The collections of Miramare Castle in Trieste have been enriched by a patriotic painting made in 1861 and sent to Vittorio Emanuele II, King of Italy since 17 March of that year. It is "Allegory of Trieste and Istria", a work by Annibale Strata, a painter who among other things had actively taken part in the uprisings of 1848-'49.
