Luciano Piasentier's long musical journey

Italian festival

Protagonist: Luciano Piasentier.
Author:

Luciano Piasentier was born in Pula on March 12, 1924. He has always had a passion for singing, but initially it remained just a hobby. In 1942 he worked at the Arsenal of Pula as an electrician. After the exodus, on February 2, 1947, he moved to Trieste where he worked for the Civil Police until 1952; he then worked as a clerk until 1956 when he moved to Venice, and then decided a year later to leave for Adelaide, Australia, with his wife and 4-year-old son. In 1958 he was still unemployed and while passing in front of the restaurant “The Blue Danube” in the city center, he heard singing in Italian. He entered the restaurant and sang in turn. The Viennese owner hired him immediately and, thanks to his performances in this environment, he began to become popular. As luck would have it, among his audience there was also an engineer from General Motors who offered him a job as an electrician and at the same time the opportunity to sing in various competitions as a representative of the industry itself. Thus began Luciano's career as a professional tenor who for the next fifteen years would always be present in the finals of Australian singing competitions.
