Cristicchi's "Exodus" Returns to Theaters
In the Old Port of Trieste there is a particularly touching “place of memory”: Warehouse No. 18. It tells of a painful page in Italian history, of a complex story of our twentieth century that is never sufficiently known, and if possible made even more heartbreaking by the fact that its memory has been entrusted not to an imposing monument but to many small, humble testimonies that are part of everyday life.
In the old port of Trieste, Warehouse No. 18 preserves chairs, wardrobes, mattresses, beds and dishes, photographs, toys, every common good in the flow of so many lives interrupted by history, and by the Exodus: with the Peace Treaty of 1947, Italy lost vast territories of Istria and the coastal strip, and about 300 thousand people chose - faced with a painful and complex situation - to leave their native lands destined to no longer be Italian.
It is not difficult to imagine what their state of mind was, with what and how much suffering entire families packed up their things, leaving behind their homes, cities, and roots. In front of them were difficulties, fear, insecurity, and so much nostalgia.
Simone Cristicchi returns in October with “Esodo”. With programming suspended due to the Corona virus containment measures, some theaters have decided to restart in October with new seasons. Below are the events related to the show “Esodo”, stories of lives masterfully interpreted by Simone Cristicchi.
