Asi, Trieste Corre and the National Association of Venezia-Giulia and Dalmazia are re-proposing the spectacular 9.6 km with start/finish at the Basovizza Foiba, with a high historical and cultural significance in memory of the tragedy of the Julian-Dalmatian populations.

SUNDAY 8 NOVEMBER 2020 APPOINTMENT WITH THE III EDITION OF THE TRIESTE REMEMBRANCE RACE

On Sunday 8 November, starting and finishing at the Foiba di Basovizza and only in its competitive form that will respect the anti-Covid regulations currently in force, the 3rd edition of the Corsa del Ricordo di Trieste will take place, an event promoted by Asi (Associazione Sportive e Sociali Italiane) in partnership with the Associazione Nazionale Venezia-Giulia e Dalmazia, Lega Nazionale and Federesuli and organised by the Trieste Corre committee led by Alessandro Piemonte.

The organizers strongly wanted, even in such a difficult moment for all sports following the limitations due to the pandemic, to propose again this event that has a very high value, not only sporting, historical and cultural and that recalls, right in the area of ​​the Basovizza Foiba where the start and finish are located, the tragic events that involved the Julian-Dalmatian populations.

The route will be 9,6 km long, mainly on dirt terrain, with a passage on the old railway and breathtaking views of the Gulf of Trieste and Val Rosandra. Departure is scheduled for 10.30:XNUMX am.

The first man and the first woman to cross the finish line will be awarded a voucher valid for two people (flight + accommodation) to participate in the Corsa del Ricordo in Rome on February 7. The initiative, in fact, also takes place in the capital to remember the tragedy of the Foibe and the Julian-Dalmatian exodus.

"We strongly wanted to propose the Race of Remembrance of Trieste again this year - says Sandro Giorgi, national manager of Asi Athletics - despite the difficult moment we are experiencing, because this race goes beyond the technical aspect, enclosing cultural and historical values ​​that Asi has been advocating and defending for several years now through sport. I am particularly grateful to the Associations that are alongside us and to Trieste Corre that have made the realization of the event possible despite the difficulties that this year, inevitably, we have found ourselves having to overcome ".

Registrations will only be possible online, at the promotional rate of 10 euros, on the official websites corsadelricordo.it, triesterunningfestival.com e triesteathletica.com. Each participant will receive a free Asi backpack and mask, CdR technical vest and dedicated Antica Tostatura Triestina coffee package. The collection of packages and bibs will only take place on site, before the race, from 7.30:10 to XNUMX.

The first 3 overall M/F (at the end of the race) and the first M/F classified in all Fidal categories will be awarded (they will be contacted by the organization at a later time).

The event is included in the national and regional Asi calendar. During the event, safety measures will be implemented to ensure the health of all those involved.
