Between Veneto and Istria, the second study seminar The two shores
After the remarkable success of the first seminar (see the result of the teachers' self-assessment questionnaire) which took place in Pula and Piran on 18-19 April 2023, a second seminar is proposed which will take place in Buie and Koper for a duration of two days in April 2024. The first seminar was attended by 60 teachers from schools in Veneto and Istria and highlighted the need to further explore the topics covered in addition to proceeding towards the design of common educational paths and organizing twinning between schools in Veneto and Istria.
The seminar is aimed at teachers from the Veneto region and teachers of the Italian minority in Slovenia and Croatia and is an important opportunity to compare two realities with the same cultural roots, separated following the dramatic events on the eastern border at the end of the Second World War.
It is significant that, with the entry of Slovenia and Croatia into the European Union, the Venetian and Italian cultural wealth that has characterized the Istrian lands for centuries is revalued and can constitute a starting point for an integration of peoples that a misunderstood nationalism has divided for too long.
The seminar is organized by the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia and the Italian Union.
Seminar topics
The dramatic events of the eastern border.
. The historical, artistic and cultural heritage of Veneto and of Venetian origin in the territories of Istria, Fiume and Dalmatia.
. Design of common educational paths.
. Cultural exchanges between Veneto and Istria Fiume and Dalmatia.
. Teaching and learning Venetian culture through the study of the territory, the language and expressiveness.
. Experiences compared. Presentation of experiences carried out by Venetian Istrian, Fiumane and Dalmatian schools, concerning the valorization of Venetian and Istrian-Venetian culture and language.
Organization: the seminar will be held over two days, April 11 and 12, 2024.
