Bureaucracy and origins, slips in the upper echelons

We received from Marino Micich the text that we publish below in which he underlines the way in which the personal data concerning exiles are treated, even in the spheres, in this case an excellent exile like Lucio Toth.

despite the Law of Remembrance nr. 92/2004 we read that the senator, exiled from Zadar LUCIO TOTH, native of Zadar, was born in.... CROATIA!!!
For history: Zara was always the capital of Venetian Dalmatia for centuries and in 1920 it was officially assigned to the Kingdom of Italy with the signing of the Treaty of Rapallo and with the approval of the then Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (which later became Yugoslavia). Fascism had not yet come to power in Italy. In 1920, the majority of the population of Zara was largely Italian in language and culture. On 1 November 1944, after having suffered 54 Anglo-American air raids (bombings requested by Tito, leader of the Yugoslav popular movement, which caused over 2.000 deaths), the city was occupied by the partisans. This occupation was followed by a furious and blind repressive action by the communist people's commissars which led to the killing of hundreds of people from Zara, Borgherizza and the surrounding Dalmatians and which was followed by the implementation of a denationalization policy towards the remaining Italians, so strong as to force them to exodus. It is estimated that 90% of Zadar Dalmatians and Borgherizzani left the city forever. Today in the city there are only 123 Italians (estimates from the latest Croatian census).
