A digitized heritage of history of the Adriatic border
The Multimedia Documentation Centre of Julian, Istrian, Rijeka and Dalmatian Culture in Trieste (CDM) has completed a major project to digitise books and period documents relating to the history of the Adriatic border.
In fact, the Arcipelago Adriatico website features the section Historical Books at https://libri.arcipelagoadriatico.it in which over 700 titles are collected, divided into nine sections:
Julian Venetia;
Istria;
River;
Dalmatia;
Montenegro;
Miscellaneous;
Music;
Magazines, guides, almanacs, yearbooks;
Postcards.
All these files are freely accessible, can be consulted online or downloaded in PDF format: «On the eve of the Day of Remembrance 2023 – declared the President of the CDM Renzo Codarin – we wanted to provide scholars with important research and study tools. In addition to the works of erudition or with patriotic purposes, there are also documents that concern the daily life of the Adriatic lands between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and which can therefore also be useful for the simply curious»
In addition to its own book collection, the CDM also drew on the libraries of the Archives – Historical Museum of Fiume of the Society of Fiume Studies and the Casa del Ricordo in Rome for this digitization work.
