The Histria Mailing List, created to preserve and protect the Italian-style cultural identity of Istria, Rijeka, Kvarner, and Dalmatia, in keeping with the multiethnic spirit of our times and independent of any political affiliation, intends to promote collaborative relationships with ALL institutions and organizations operating in the Istrian, Rijeka, Kvarner, and Dalmatian regions, a territory currently divided between the national states of Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, and Montenegro, with the aim of studying, preserving, and developing the specific cultural identity of the aforementioned regional territories.

ML Histria, aware of the unavoidable reality that the region currently sees the prevalence of Slovenian and Croatian communities over other historical groups, such as Italians, aims to raise awareness and promote this now minority component and consequently enhance the identity of the Italian National Community in Slovenia, Croatia, and Montenegro, seeking to raise awareness, especially among Italian citizens and the media. To this end, it urges everyone's collaboration to overcome any anachronistic historical opposition between the people and the European states of Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, and Montenegro. This will allow us to jointly reconstruct the history, and above all, the future, of the region, with full respect for all the cultures historically present there.

The ML Histria therefore recognizes the necessary complementarity of these ethnic groups that a centuries-old educational path, distilled in those lands, has seen united in close relationships of interdependence giving life to a "cultural specificity" that, by its very nature, cannot renounce any of these components without losing a significant part of its original historical and cultural identity.

On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of its foundation, April 14, 2000 – April 14, 2026, the Mailing List Histria, under the patronage of the Association of Italian Dalmatians in the World and the Association for Rijeka, Istrian and Dalmatian Culture in Lazio, is announcing the 24th edition of the Mailing List Histria International Literary Competition. The volume containing the best entries will be published in collaboration with the Multimedia Documentation Center of Julian, Istrian, Rijeka and Dalmatian Culture in Trieste.

The call for applications, aimed at students of Italian schools in Slovenia and Croatia and young people attending Italian communities in Croatia, Slovenia, and Montenegro who speak Italian or the local Venetian and Istrian dialect, can be downloaded here:
