The Ammiraglia 2026 sailing event, organized by the Yacht Club Venezia and Europa Adriatica Nordest with the sailing clubs Maestral of Rovinj and Yugo of Lošinj, the Venice Boat Show, and the Unione Italiana, concluded successfully on Sunday, June 14. Thirteen boats between 10 and 16 meters long traveled from the Venice Arsenal to Lošinj, with a stopover in Rovinj. Two of these, not competing, represented the cultural "muda" and social inclusion.

Mirko Sguario: “Unfortunately, the weather penalized us and affected our racing, but the welcome we received in both Rovinj and Lošinj was greatly appreciated by the competitors, who congratulated us and expressed their hope for a continuation of the event.”

Vittorio Baroni: “Unforgettable moments were experienced at the Arsenale and the Nicelli, as were those in Istria and Kvarner. We were welcomed with open arms, enthusiastically, and enthusiastically. It was a great honor for all of us to receive a message of congratulations from the Italian Ambassador to Croatia, Paolo Trichilo.”

The journey began with the party at the Arsenale animated by the Coro Serenissima and the excellence of the zero-mile taste of the UNESCO heritage areas of Coldiretti Veneto, fish from Chioggia and the lagoon, Bellini and Prosecco Canella, tortelli Pastificio Giacomo Rizzo dal 1905, Gelato delle Dolomiti, bussolà Carmelina from Burano and the famous Margherini Milady.

At the stroke of midnight between June 11th and 12th, the boats were escorted by the Coast Guard with the collaboration of the Veneto Maritime Directorate, marking the beginning of a crossing that successfully combined sport, friendship, and dialogue between the Adriatic communities. The start was challenging with winds of 25 to 30 knots, rough seas, and a drastic drop in winds about halfway through the race.

The Istrian leg concluded at the splendid ACI Marina in Rovinj, managed by Goran Bilić. Here, the crews were welcomed by Mayor Emil Nimčević, Deputy Mayors Gianfranca Šuran and Dino Sošić, ACI Marina officials, and Marin Corva, President of the Italian Union in Croatia and Slovenia, who praised the initiative for "promoting mutual understanding and cooperation among the Adriatic communities." Also in attendance were 25 students on the final day of classes, as well as teachers from the Antonio Borme High School, led by Principal Ines Venier.

At 1:56 PM, the Venetian Zora of the Yacht Club Venezia was the first boat to cross the finish line in Rovinj, followed by the Orsobrillo Yacht Club Vicenza, and in third place, the White Shark of the Yacht Club Lignano. In the afternoon, gifts were exchanged with the Pino Budicin Italian Community by Matteo Tromba, President of the Executive Board, and books were donated to ANVGD Venezia. The day concluded with a grand celebration at the Molo Grande, hosted by the Batana Ecomuseum, for the opening of the 20th Rovinj Regatta of traditional boats with lug and lateen sails.

On the morning of June 13th, at 8:00 a.m., the second and decisive leg to Lošinj began amidst dolphins and griffon vultures. Light winds of around 5 knots provided a technical and tactical test. The first line honor sail to cross the finish line at 14:22 p.m. was Ave Maria del Diporto Velico Veneziano, followed by Orsobrillo Yacht Club Vicenza and White Shark Yacht Club Lignano. Based on the combined times achieved in the two races, the 2026 Ammiraglia was won by Zora of Yacht Club Venezia, skippered by Pietro Del Maschio for the pilot project "Basilica di San Marco nel Mondo." Vicenza's Orsobrillo took second place, and Friuli's White Shark placed third overall.

In the afternoon, an honorary flight over Lošinj by the Aelia seaplane departed from Nicelli Airport, carrying brothers Ivano and Astellio Boscolo Bielo from Chioggia, along with Raffaele Ambruoso, CEO of Nicelli. This initiative marks the centenary of the first flight of the SISA airline, launched in Mali Lošinj by the Cosulich brothers. After dinner at Deveron, awards were presented with the Silver Lions from Meneghetti, the Goldsmith of Venice, and the new Lussino Essence LH&V fragrance from The Merchant of Venice, presented at the amphitheater of the Mali Lošinj Library, accompanied by Dalibor Cvitković, Director of the Tourist Board. A concert by the String Orchestra of the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory of Trieste, composed of 13 musicians, conducted by Maestro Paolo Ciociola, was applauded. Event sponsored by the National Association of Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia with pieces by Vivaldi, Corelli, Tartini, and Mozart.

In the spirit of memory, the sea, and gratitude, the organizers finally paid homage to Admiral Agostino “Tino” Straulino by laying a laurel wreath at the family tomb in the San Martino Cemetery in Lussinpiccolo.
