In the 50s, Italo Calvino made the first collection of Italian regional fairy tales and in 1956 he published the results of his research in three volumes entitled, precisely, Le Fiabe italiane. The first volume is of particular interest to us, because it contains two fairy tales originating from our lands: La bella fronte (Istria) and La corona rubata (Dalmatia). We reproduce them here below.
