Luca Bisanti

Professione: Theologist and ambassador
Luogo: Dalmatia
Autore: ibidem

He was a theologist and an ambassador, tifone Bisanti’s nephew, he succeeded him
as Bishop of Kotor.
He, like his uncle was thelogist and ambassador, and he,exactly like his uncle, renounced to an ecclesiastic assignment in 1565. As his uncle, he was a participant in the Council of Trent convoked by the Popes Paul III, Jules III and Pio IV, between December 1545 and December 1563, with the purpose of contrasting the reforms and  condemning  Luther’s mistakes.
On that occasion were examined for many years, the doctrine based on the Holy Scriptures, sacred tradition, original sin, justification and the sacraments, while during the sessions in 1562, when Luca was present, the sacrament of Eucharist was discussed.
He is also remembered as the author of the Life of St. Trifon, written in 1538 and published in Venice in 1561, the work that at the end of 1500s was abridged by Girolamo Bucchia, that in three lessons was approved by Clemens VIII and finally accepted by Farlati in the Illyricum Sacrum.

We also know that during the sieges by the Turks he was able to awaken the soul with the force of his words and to persuade his fellow citizens to successfully resist to the Ottoman menace of fear and death. This is all we know about him: there aren’t information about his personal details or about episodes concerning his life.
